We designed and built an innovative centre to inspire those pursuing careers in oil and gas.
Retaining Australia’s competitive advantage in national resources
The North Australian Centre for Oil and Gas (NACOG) is a hub for training, education, consultancy and research. Charles Darwin University called on PTM Group to construct this world class facility, which supports the need to develop a skilled workforce with advanced engineering capabilities to retain Australia’s competitive advantage in natural resources.
World class training and research facilities
The centre provides an ideal space for students, apprentices and tradespeople to study, both on campus and through distance learning, in the field of oil and gas. It also serves to support the specific needs of industry, both operationally and in terms of new developments.
PTM Group constructed laboratories and testing facilities, including a computer laboratory with specialised equipment, for both teaching and research. The new laboratories and equipment enable students to build their mechanical, civil and green skills and develop knowledge in electro-technology, building, construction and engineering.
Overcoming the challenges
Various challenges were overcome while the project was underway, including working in an area that was full of university students throughout the week. Car parking was minimal. PTM Group worked closely with Charles Darwin University to ensure that disruptions to the university were to an absolute minimum.
Supporting the Northern Territory’s long term goals in this sector
NACOG is a state of the art facility which supports the Top End region’s long term strategic planning and direction in the oil and gas sector. As with all of PTM Group’s work, this project was completed to a high standard both on time and on budget.
