St Mary’s major sponsorship provides opportunities for the community

The Territory’s most successful AFLNT football club, St Mary’s, was formed in 1952 to provide an opportunity for Tiwi Islanders working in Darwin to play football.

The growth and success of St Mary’s is now expansive with over 300 players in 11 teams of men, women and juniors. To this day St Mary’s still bring in players every week from the Tiwi Islands to compete, and this now includes players from Wadeye.

The success of St Mary’s is strongly attributed to the sponsorship provided by PTM Group for more than ten years. As a Major Sponsor, PTM Group are proud to support the young men and women at St Mary’s football club. The flow on effect from their sponsorship has greater community benefits. As a Territory company originating in Darwin, PTM Group understand the importance of supporting the community in which they live and work.

St Mary’s Coach Ricky Nolan says “the contributions from PTM Group make it possible to keep young people active, off the street, and provide them with pathways to a better future”. He states that “the support from PTM Group allows the club to fund airfares and ferry rides for community players, as well as uniforms, training equipment and umpire fees”.

Ricky Nolan said “the players are well aware of the PTM Group sponsorship and know it’s a massive contribution, they wear their uniforms with pride”.

If you enjoy your footy, get down to the next St Mary’s game and cheer on the team.
